Known as TimTim in the theatrical world, Paul Keens-Douglas is one of the  most eloquent and best-known raconteurs and social commentators in the  English-speaking Caribbean. He holds diplomas in Commercial Broadcasting and Radio/TV Production  from Announcer Training Studios and RCA Institutes of New York, a B.A  (Honors) Degree in Sociology from Sir George Williams University  (Concordia), Montreal, Canada, has done two years post-graduate work at  The University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica and has a wide and varied  background in Theatre and the Creative Arts. He has self-published  nine volumes of work, fifteen  albums, three videos, sixteen CD’s and two DVD’s. His work has been  featured in many anthologies and well-known international publications  and has been translated into French, German, and Japanese. A pioneer in  the development of the oral traditions and the use of the vernacular as a  literary form, he produces the annual Tim Tim Show and Carnival Talk Tent  which he started in 1983.  His awards include the Hummingbird Silver-Culture/ Zora Neale Hurston Folklore/ Cacique-Drama/ First Citizens Maestro Extraordinaire/ Queen’s  Hall Anniversary Award/Paul Harris Fellow Rotary/The Caribbean American  Intercultural Org. Award/ Beryl McBurnie Foundation for the Arts. He was appointed Poet Laureate of T&T for the period 2017-2019, he has been  conferred with the Degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt) Honoris Causa by The  UWI, St. Augustine.

Imagine The Future: New Voices Chapter 2

The event begins with Aija Jerome and Dragonzelly the Puppet introducing a diverse set of performances and readings. The lineup includes excerpts from Paul Keens-Douglas's String Bank, Alake Pilgrim's Zo and The Invisible Island, and a Carnival Character performance — Dolly Mas by Kalea Harris. Attendees will also enjoy a staged reading of Anansi and The Fire Ants by NGC SANFEST 2023 winners from Newtown Girls RC Primary School, stories from NGC Bocas Children's Storytelling Caravan Book 9 by Aija Jerome and Newtown Boys RC Primary School, and Mikayla Burton's exploration of The Creative Mind. This rich programme promises to deliver a memorable and creative showcase.
