Poetry Triage: An Interactive Seminar
Ensure Your Competition Entries Stand Out to Judges!
Personal Feedback Guaranteed.
Writing the poems can be hard enough: submitting them to contests and awards is a whole new world. How can you be sure the judges are paying attention to your best work? In this interactive seminar, Shivanee Ramlochan (Hollick Arvon Prize Shortlist 2015, Forward Prizes for Best First Collection Shortlist 2017, Bridport Prize Shortlist 2018, John Ciardi Poetry Fellow, Bread Loaf Writers Conference 2019) helps you put your poetry house in order!
Examining portfolios of 3-5 poems (10 page maximum) per participant, Shivanee will guide you through behind-the-scenes submissions, do’s and don’ts, sharing her toolkit for an arresting, convincing prize entry, from the multiple angles of thematic, structure, persuasion, and editorial vision. This seminar consists of an illustrated lecture with recommended reading list, interactive group Q&A, and personalised one-on-one portfolio reviews.
Your poetry is your art. Don’t leave the best parts of it on the cutting block, or in a head-scratching sequence. Let’s triage your way to a contest entry in which you have complete artistic faith.
NOTE: This ticket includes two sessions: one interactive group seminar on September 4, and a follow-up one-on-one feedback session with facilitator Shivanee Ramlochan. The ticket shows the date and time of the first seminar, after which we’ll contact you to schedule a 15-minute personal feedback session on September 9 or 11.
