The NGC Bocas Lit Fest South was held on 11 Oct 2015 at the Visitor’s Centre, San Fernando Hill in collaboration with title sponsor the NGC, First Citizens, the Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development and the San Fernando Hill Management Committee.

The action-packed one-day event included interactive workshops, Empower,! a free storytelling workshop for children aged 6 to 12 with Auntie Thea. Muhamed uwakil of Freetown Collective facilitated Words for Music, a workshop on poetry and song.

Readings and writers events included A Walk Back in Times: Snapshots of the History of T&T, the launch of the late Angelo Bissessarsingh’s new book with Judy Raymond, Brinsely Samaroo and Geofrey MacLean. New best-selling author Sabrina Ramnanan, Trini/Canadian writer of Nothing Like Love, made her T&T debut.

The festival also featured theatre with the presentation of  the dramatic play Searching, directed by Lezora Edwards in collaboration with Iere Theatre Productions.  The discussion segment featured Sunity Maharaj, Basil Reid, Sat Balkarnsingh and Tracy Assing discussing The First Peoples’ Legacy and aspiring writers and poets got their moment to shine during the Open Mic session hosted by Kyle “Skeeto” Amos of One Mic.

Masters of the written word met performance poets in Poetry: The Page meets the Stage in the thrilling festival finale featuring Danielle Boodoo Fortune, Shivanee Ramlocahn and Colin Robinson from the Coming Up Hot anthology along with spoken word favourites Ariana Herbert, Arielle John and Brendon O’Brien.
