Biography

André Alexis, Trinidad-born, Canada-based author of six novels. His internationally acclaimed debut, Childhood, won the Books in Canada First Novel Award and the Trillium Book Award, and was shortlisted for the Giller Prize. His fifth, Fifteen Dogs (2015) received many honours, including the 2015 Scotiabank Giller Prize, and was followed by The Hidden Keys (2016). In 2017 he won a Windham-Campbell Prize for fiction. His latest book is a career-spanning collection of stories titled The Night Piece (McClelland & Stewart, 2020).
