Bocas Lit Fest

Event Synopsis

Let’s Remember: A fun look back at the past 10 years of the NGC Children’s Bocas Lit Fest, drawing from our successful activities, including the Storytelling Caravan, our Imagine New Worlds feature at City Hall, and the Bocas Literacy Boot Camp at NALIS.

Animation: The premiere of two new feature animations Drama at the Tobago Heritage Festival and Rock Fishing at Bloody Bay, both based on stories written by the children of Tobago.

Dragonzilla’s Storytime: Dramatised stories from the NGC Children’s Bocas Lit Fest story books, this time by Nikki Crosby: Trapped in My Phone, written by the children of Port of Spain, and Drama at the Moriah Wedding.

Readings by Reea Rodney, Danielle Boodoo-Fortuné, and Gregory Thompson.

Drama: Teamwork and cooperation are highlighted in Mary Cuffy’s original drama Lola and the Battle of the Bugs. Directed by Penelope Spencer, the children enter the stickfighting gayelle, as Lola and the Ladybugs try to win the competition. And, a second chance to see our 2018 and 2019 Page to Stage school performances at the Central Bank Auditorium in which children dramatised stories from the NGC Children’s Bocas Lit Fest story books.
