Bocas Lit Fest

Event Synopsis

For writers, readers, publishers, and scholars, “Caribbean” is a universally accepted category of literature — but do we all mean the same thing by it? As even more diverse voices, perspectives, and subjects enter the literary fray, and as writers establish increasingly transnational identities, will “Caribbean” remain a useful label? Those are among the questions raised by the new three-volume Caribbean Literature in Transition. Editors Alison Donnell and Ronald Cummings are joined by writer Vahni Capildeo and publisher Tanya Batson-Savage for a conversation about definitions and their limits and possibilities.
