Boyd Tonkin studied literature at Cambridge University before becoming an award-winning journalist. Formerly the Literary Editor of The Independent, he is now the newspaper’s Senior Writer. He has reported on cultural and social issues from more than 30 countries. In addition to judging the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize annually since 2001, he has judged many other awards including the Booker Prize. He was a judge of the 2014 OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature.
