Derron Sandy uses spoken word poetry to create solutions for education, entertainment and entrepreneurship. Sandy has been a performer since 2009 and full time artist since 2014. He has been long listed for The Bocas Lit Fest Johnson and Amoy Achong Caribbean Writers Prize (2021) and has been published in the Indianapolis Review (2020). He completed a Masters of Arts in Literatures in English from UWI StA. (2016). In 2020 he authored a children’s story book called A Story of Hope, published by the Pan American Development Foundation as part of a special project addressing migration. He is the founder of arts based NGO The Quays Foundation (2009) and artistic director of spoken word organisation The 2 Cents Movement since 2017. Sandy is also the winner of the National Poetry Slam in Trinidad and Tobago (2021) and best actor award at the Conch Shell Film Festival (2022).
