Eliot Weinberger is a contemporary American writer, essayist, editor, and translator whose writing regularly features in the New York Review of Books and has appeared in over thirty languages. His numerous books include An Elemental Thing (2007) and The Ghosts of Birds (2016).

He first gained recognition for his translations of the Nobel Prize–winning writer and poet Octavio Paz.
