Bio

For the last two decades, Gillian has impacted the underground music scene in T&T with her unique acoustic style, creative collaborations and support for emerging performers. Her Songshine open mic series provided a platform for scores of singers, musicians and poets from 2004 to 2009. Her recent critically acclaimed Cool Nights series has continued to put the spotlight on local talent.

Gillian touches audiences with her enchanting songs, soulful presence and poetic lyrics. Accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, Gillian has carved out her own niche as an influential and original artist.

She was a founding member of Rapso group Homefront, recording her co-composition Give Yourself a Chance on the Kiskidee Label in 1992.

She has performed her original songs internationally, including in Paris, London, Venezuela, Dominica and Jamaica.

Gillian works as a publicist and communications consultant. She is a former print journalist covering music, the arts and entertainment for over 22 years. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Arts and Cultural Enterprise Management from the University of the West Indies, and sits on the Advisory Board of Sustain T&T, an NGO promoting environmental conservation, social justice and sustainable development. She also lectures in Art & Design in Communications at UWI’s Open Campus.
