Bio

Kleon McPherson, who hails from the beautiful island of Tobago, brings a refreshing and innovative style to spoken word with his intellectual poetic humour and remarkable lyrical speed and word play. His distinctive intonations and delivery make him one of Trinidad and Tobago’s premiere spoken word artists. He continues to captivate audiences across the country and abroad, as he has been featured at Machel Monday 2014 and the Tobago Jazz Festival. Kleon’s success has also ventured on to the big screen, where his spoken word film entitled “Back In Times” was awarded The Carmichael Award for Exceptional Storytelling at the Barbados Independent Film Festival in January 2019.In December 2021 he was awarded the prestigious Tobago Medal of Honour for Culture and Community Service. In 2020, he was awarded the Elsa Goveia Scholarship to pursue his PHD studies. He hopes that his work not only provides a form of entertainment but also enables audiences to be enlightened, inspired and to receive some sort of a message.
