Bio

Born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Sint Maarten, Mareeka Dookie, Founder of Sustainable Support Services, is an Education Development Professional. With a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and a passion for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Mareeka strives for achieving the 2030 Agenda; for sustainable, inclusive, and resilient societies tackling climate change in the Caribbean. Her work focuses on transforming education through supporting teachers, schools, parents and driving social impact through environmental protection, youth empowerment and community involvement. In 2019 Mareeka created an education awareness campaign through an eco-friendly Carnival troupe called Pretty Trashy; upcycling waste materials for the cultural expression of carnival on the island. Her journey with Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) began through volunteering on various projects before and after the devastation caused by hurricane Irma in 2017. She also represented the Caribbean as a “Green Ticket recipient” at the first ever United Nations Youth Climate Summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City in 2019.
