Bio

Nehilet Blackman is a singer, songwriter and musician who has an absolutely unique approach to music and the arts.

Her father, the late great Ras Shorty I, who is the undisputed inventor of ‘Soca/Jamoo music’ is her major influence as she has over the years added her own spice to this long accepted and well-loved indigenous brand of music.

Nehilet and her infectious indie-pop tone can be heard on every major gospel radio station in Trinidad and Tobago, the African Continent, the Caribbean and North and South America. Recently, she has started fusing and performing Bollywood music within her repertoire.

Nehilet is signed to an international label ‘Royal and Respect’, which is distributed by Tuff Gong records, the International Division of Universal Records.
