Peter Cavendish was appointed European Union Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago in 2021, and as of March 2025, he has been appointed Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. He has been working at EU institutions since 1995, when he joined DG ECHO Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection as Head of Sector. Since then he has served in finance and security. Prior to joining the EU, Cavendish worked in the financial and petrochemical sectors. He was born in Dublin, Ireland.
