Safiya Kamaria Kinshasa

Safiya Kamaria Kinshasa is a British-born Barbadian poet, dancer and choreographer. Cane, Corn & Gully (Out-Spoken Press, 2022) is her first poetry collection and her work has appeared in The Caribbean Writer, Poetry Review, Poetry London, and Wasafiri. She is also a national and international spoken word champion, an Obsidian Foundation fellow and an Apples & Snakes/Jerwood Arts Poetry in Performance recipient. She won the 2020 Culture Recordings New Voice in Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for the Out-Spoken Page Poetry Prize and Creative Future Writer’s Award. She placed third in The 2022 London Magazine Poetry Prize.
