Bio

Tafar Chia Lewis is a venturesome actress- dramaturg- director and writer. Tafar is the founder of Teatro Journee, a Caribbean performing arts based organization. Trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she holds an MFA in classical and contemporary acting with previous studies in Theatre at the University of the West Indies. She is one of the first founding members of the National Theatre Arts Company of Trinidad and Tobago, Her accomplishments include playing Juliet at the Sam Wanamker Playhouse at the Shakespeare Globe London, producing and performing theatre whilst teaching in India, Nepal, Antigua and Norway. She recently had the pleasure of facilitating her acting training programme at the dynamic Tobago Performing arts company and is currently an acting coach for several talents in the Caribbean. Tafar serves as an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Creative and Festival Arts at U.W.I and is writing and further developing her mono-drama called,” God Save the Queen’.
