Announcing the publication of ‘Musical Youth’: Second place winner of the Burt Award for Caribbean Literature

Announcing the publication of Musical Youth by Joanne C. Hillhouse, the second place winner of the 2014 Burt Award for Caribbean Literature, published by Caribbean Reads.

The manuscript of Musical Youth was awarded second place in the inaugural Burt Award for Caribbean Literature. Caribbean publishers were invited to bid on the publication rights for this award-winning work for Caribbean young adults. Together with CODE (the Canadian literacy non-profit organisation that founded the Burt Award) and the Bocas Lit Fest (the administrators of the Caribbean Burt Award), the winning author Joanne Hillhouse selected CaribbeanReads Publishing, a small publisher based in St. Kitts, to publish her manuscript. Congratulations to CaribbeanReads on the successful publication of this culturally-relevant and engaging new novel for Caribbean teens!

We at the Bocas Lit Fest are proud to be helping CODE to donate copies of this title, and the other winners of the 2014 Burt Award for Caribbean Literature, to schools, libraries, community organisations, literacy foundations, and children’s homes in Trinidad and Tobago and around the Caribbean.
