Bocas heads to South + Central Trinidad

Every April, the NGC Bocas Lit Fest transforms Port of Spain into the temporary capital of Caribbean literature, buzzing with writers both famous and soon-to-be, plus spoken word artistes, booksellers, publishers, and thousands of readers gathering to celebrate the power of words, stories, and ideas.

Until now, Port of Spain has been the festival’s only venue. But in November 2013, a special weekend-long programme of events will bring the NGC Bocas Lit Fest to San Fernando and Chaguanas, right to the doorstep of readers and festival fans in South and Central Trinidad.

The inaugural NGC Bocas Lit Fest South+Central will feature a diverse collection of readings by talented Trinidadian authors on Saturday 16 November, hosted by two bookshops: RIK Services Ltd in Gulf City Mall, La Romaine, and Nigel R. Khan Booksellers in Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas. And budding writers can sign up for a series of workshops on Sunday 17 November, at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts in San Fernando. Click here for programme details, and visit our workshops page for information on how to register.

The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago is the title sponsor of this event. Workshops are held in collaboration with the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
