In the 8th year of the NGC Bocas Lit Fest we return with another action-packed programme of over 100 events.
Except where otherwise indicated, daytime events take place in the National Library and Old Fire Station on Abercromby Street and Hart Street, and are free of charge. Evening events take place at venues around the city!
Limited free weekday parking is available at the Greyfriars car park, 50 Frederick Street (open until 5pm). Paid parking is available in the nearby Parkade on Edward Street until 6 pm on weekdays. Weekend street parking is free in Port of Spain.
Tune in to the online festival livestream, with video of all events in the Old Fire Station via our Facebook page.
Readings with Q&As and panel discussions take place in the Old Fire Station and in the National Library’s AV Room (lower ground floor), and our salon series offers intimate conversations on literary topics in the 1st and 2nd Floor Seminar Rooms.
Authors will sign copies of their books at designated tables after readings, talks, and discussions.
Books by participating authors and others are on sale from official booksellers — Paper Based Bookshop, Metropolitan Book Suppliers, RIK Services Ltd, Nigel R. Khan Booksellers, and Robert & Christopher Publishers — on the ground floor of the Library.
All workshops take place in the 1st and 2nd Floor Seminar Rooms of the National Library. Most workshops have a $100 fee, which can be paid in cash at the door on arrival.
Screenings are free in the AV Room on the lower ground floor of the National Library.
Stand and Deliver is our main platform for writers of poetry or prose who want to read their work for peers and the festival audience. Friday 27, 12.30–1 pm, and Saturday 28 April, 12.30–1.30 pm. Sign up ahead of time at Festival info desk!
Children’s events take place at City Hall on Wednesday 25 April, and in the Children’s Library on the ground floor from Thursday to Sunday.
Beverages, sandwiches, and pastries are available from Rituals on the ground floor of the Library and full meal service is available on the ground floor of Old Fire Station (entry through patio area). Gourmet salads are available from The House of El Catering.
