Stephen Stuempfle is Executive Director of the Society for Ethnomusicology at Indiana University in Bloomington, and Adjunct Associate Professor in IU’s Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology. He is the author of The Steelband Movement: The Forging of a National Art in Trinidad and Tobago (1995) and co-editor of Music, Memory, Resistance: Calypso and the Caribbean Literary Imagination (2007). His latest book is Port of Spain: The Construction of a Caribbean City, 1888-1962.
