More Than A Literary Festival

Ballad: In the city of Cuzco

A family of three planting potatoes.

In the city of Cuzco, Incan beliefs were being discussed.

The evening atmosphere, reddish like a tomato.

The daughter hated Incan beliefs and was in disgust.

Abruptly, the sun was covered in shading darkness.

Fear instilled as hooves could be heard coming closer.

Soldiers in metal armor, rumored to be god and said to be heartless.

The father confronted while the mother hid the daughter.

Father was slashed and blood splashed.

Fear instilled to wonder is this the punishment of the gods?

Daughter hidden behind a potato sack, the mother dashed but only to be slashed,

Fear instilled as the sun god returned.

The daughter survived by a miracle, living in sorrowful peace

Planting potatoes and living alone,

Until one day some soldiers returned, and she ceased.

Her bones became nothing but stone.
