International economist and former Director of the Economics Department at the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)

Dr. Justin Ram is an international economist with over twenty-five years of international experience in practice, research, development and management.

He was previously Director of the Economics Department at the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and a member of the Bank’s management team. He was responsible for the overall strategic direction and management of the Economics Department with responsibility for international alia policy assessments, economic research, economic reporting and forecasting, policy-based-lending, and country strategies.

Before joining the CDB, Justin’s experiences included: Senior Global Economist with WorleyParsons, Supervisory economist with the Mayor of London/Greater London Authority, Technical Director with Jacobs Engineering and as an economist with the UK government’s Department for Transport. He has also been a Class Teacher at the London School of Economics and Political Science and was Lecturer in economics at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. Justin also worked as an analyst with Thomson / Reuters. He has worked as a consultant on substantial energy projects (renewable energy LNG, CNG, GTL) in the Caribbean, Central Asia, Africa and Europe.

He is the Co-Founder of the Caribbean Blue Economy Conference and the Caribbean Leadership and Transformation Forum.

Dr. Ram has a Diploma in Executive Management from Stanford University and a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also holds a M.Sc. in Economics from University College, London, a B.Sc. in Economics from The University of the West Indies and a post graduate certificate in sustainable environmental management from The University of California, Berkeley.
