Speaker

Edward Bowen is an artist living and working in Trinidad and Tobago. He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in the Caribbean and São Paulo. Recent exhibitions at Y Art Gallery, Trinidad, include Stories (2017), Heds (2019), and The Rainwater Paintings (2022). Bowen often uses acrylic paint, ballpoint pen, marker, graphite, charcoal, and more on canvas — letting his experience and the present moment collide into complex layers, patterns, scribblings. In his words, “pushing surfaces routinely to oblivion.” The book Black Light Void (2024), edited by Marsha Pearce, curates a selection of Bowen’s paintings with newly commissioned fiction by six Trinidad and Tobago authors.
