Mikayla Burton is 10 years of age, and she is currently a standard 4 pupil at St. Patrick’s Newtown Girls’ R.C School. Mikayla is very passionate about writing and dance. She wrote her first book in standard 1, The Creative Mind this gave her the drive to continue developing her writing skills, she is currently on her second book. Her aspiration is to become an author. Mikayla also loves to dance, she is a member of the Macia Charles Dance Theater Company, she has been involved in dance since age 5 with the company and at school. Her creativity is also extended to singing and other extra-curricular activities in which she engages. Mikayla is very all-round and puts her heart in every venture.

Imagine The Future: New Voices Chapter 2

The event begins with Aija Jerome and Dragonzelly the Puppet introducing a diverse set of performances and readings. The lineup includes excerpts from Paul Keens-Douglas's String Bank, Alake Pilgrim's Zo and The Invisible Island, and a Carnival Character performance — Dolly Mas by Kalea Harris. Attendees will also enjoy a staged reading of Anansi and The Fire Ants by NGC SANFEST 2023 winners from Newtown Girls RC Primary School, stories from NGC Bocas Children's Storytelling Caravan Book 9 by Aija Jerome and Newtown Boys RC Primary School, and Mikayla Burton's exploration of The Creative Mind. This rich programme promises to deliver a memorable and creative showcase.
