Nailah Blackman, a Trinidad born artist has infused her own musical style into the Soca genre, evolving and re-inventing what soca means to the Trinbagonian people. In 2017, Nailah created an annual event entitled ‘Sokah Origins’ which has seen great success. Nailah writes, composes and plays multiple instruments and is especially known for acoustic performances. Nailah has been a trailblazer in the soca music industry, from the release of her first hit song in 2017 ‘Workout,’ a collaboration with Kes to one of her biggest songs to date released in 2023 ‘Come Home,’ in collaboration with Skinny Fabulous. This song came first and second place in Miami Carnival’s Road March and TUCO’s Road March respectively and has been one of the most popular streamed Soca songs of 2023. She also released her first studio album ‘Teknique’ in 2022 which teased ‘Come Home’ and showcased Nailah’s diversity and songwriting skills with 19 phenomenal tracks. Nailah has had collaborations with renowned artists such as Major Lazer, Shenseea and most recently Bob Marley’s granddaughter, Mystic Marley. Nailah continues to capture international audiences through her music and live performances, in countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Nigeria, and the Caribbean. Her achievements include a BET Award nomination, a performance at Coachella and the WNBA halftime performance. La, La Love is her first book.

Full of fun, entertaining videos, Bocas Storytime helps to nurture young viewers’ language skills and improve their understanding of the world around us, through topics such as Carnival, folklore, and the environment. It's a treasure trove of original tales by our talented young writers. Bonus videos include Pretty Like Jamaica by Opal Palmer Adisa, Love, La La by Nailah Blackman and Let's Talk About Feelings by Aché Abrahams. Attendees of the Adult Festival are welcome to leave their children ages 4 and over at this all-day event, under the supervision of our carefully selected caregivers.
