Shakirah Bourne, Barbadian writer and filmmaker, is a 2018 CODE Burt Award Finalist. Her self-published collection of stories In Time of Need won the 2015 Governor General's Award for Excellence in Literary Fiction. Her newest manuscript won the Prime Minister's Award at the Frank Collymore Literary Awards. Her film adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream A Caribbean Dream, was released in London in 2017 and nominated for three UK National Film Awards.
