Shame On Me: An Anatomy of Race and Belonging won the 2020 Bocas Prize for Non-Fiction, was shortlisted for the Hilary Weston Prize 2020 and received a 2018 Eccles British Library Award. Her seven novels include her latest, The Snow Line, shortlisted for the 2022 Gordon Bowker Volcano Prize. Her non-fiction work includes Luminous Ink: Writers on Writing in Canada, co-edited with Dionne Brand and Rabindranath Maharaj. Tessa, born in Guyana, is also a librettist and Professor of Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia.
