The popular annual series of Tea and Readings came to a celebratory Christmas close on Saturday 2nd December with readings by six Trinidadian writers. From memoir to poetry and prizewinning fiction, Paper Based, the Caribbean specialty bookseller, offered something for almost every book-lover and seasonal gift giver.   The 2020 Costa Book of the Year Award

Bocas Children’s Book Prize Shortlist Announced

Three Caribbean books for young readers have been shortlisted for the 2023 Bocas Children’s Book Prize. The shortlistees were announced on Sunday 19 November, 2023. The US$1,000 prize, sponsored by the Wainwright Family, is dedicated to recognising noteworthy books by Caribbean authors for readers aged 7 to 12, and celebrating outstanding English-language children’s literature.

The new Bocas Breakthrough Fellowships are open for applications!

The Bocas Breakthrough Fellowships, a new programme for early-career Caribbean writers administered by the Bocas Lit Fest, are now open for applications.

Running from December 2023 to May 2024, the Bocas Breakthrough Fellowships will support five early-career Caribbean writers based at home in the region in advancing or completing a book manuscript or other body of work, and developing their professional skills and networks in the regional and international literary world. The application deadline is 31 October, 2023.

President hosts second edition of Children’s Storytime

Her Excellency Christine C. Kangaloo, President of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, continued the series “Children’s Storytime at President’s House” with another event at her residence on Wednesday 4 October, hosted by the Office of The President in collaboration with the NGC Bocas Lit Fest.  In July, President Kangaloo hosted the inaugural Children’s Storytime
