More Than A Literary Festival

#bocas2018 Youth Vlog: Interview with Imam Baksh

Welcome to our #bocas2018 post-festival coverage! Here’s a vlog from one of our 2018 NGC Bocas Lit Fest Youth Bloggers, Saajid Hosein. He’s interviewing Guyanese writer Imam Baskh, winner of the 2018 CODE Burt Award for Caribbean Young Adult Literature.

Here’s what Saajid said about this interview:

“When I was asked to interview Guyanese author Imam Baksh at the 2018 Bocas Lit Fest, I was more than ecstatic! Baksh won the Code Burt Award for Caribbean Young Adult Fiction in 2015 for his book Children of the Spider and again in 2018 for The Dark of the Sea.
As a lover of Young Adult, craving to read more Caribbean books that fall in my preferred genres, I was curious to learn more about Baksh’s work. And he rel cool! I decided to tailor the interview based on popular discussions that takes place on the bookish side of the internet about diversity and representation in literature — especially young adult literature. This led to a really interesting conversation that I hope you enjoy!”
Without further ado, here’s Saajid’s vlog!
